ABOUT US

BETTER GO SOUTH is a contemporary art gallery focused on 21st-century art, with spaces in Berlin and Stuttgart.

Founded in 2022, BETTER GO SOUTH has held more than 40 exhibitions, presenting emerging and established artists from Germany and abroad.

Alongside its exhibition program, BETTER GO SOUTH develops artist residencies, special projects and collaborations across Germany and internationally, connecting artists with collectors, institutions, curators and new audiences.

We see the gallery as more than an exhibition space: a place where artists can develop their practice, experiment, meet new audiences and build lasting connections.

At BETTER GO SOUTH, we are interested not only in where an artist is today, but in where their practice can go next.

STUTTGART

A vibrant city of major collections and museums, with a new residency at its heart.

Stuttgart offers a peaceful and inspiring environment for artists looking to focus,  experiment and bring new ideas to life.

The city is home to major art collections, world-class museums such as the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, as well as the renowned Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart.

At the same time, Stuttgart offers an exceptional quality of life and a slower rhythm that leaves room for what matters most: your work.

With quick connections to cultural hubs such as Munich and Paris, the city combines cultural depth with the space to step back, concentrate, and develop new projects. And then there is the tiny house: a small, private space to live, work, think and make.

With BETTER GO SOUTH, Richard Woods brings his iconic tiny houses to life as a fully inhabitable work of art. Designed and built as both a functional living space and an artwork, the tiny house becomes a place where artists can live within the piece while creating new work.
